Food - Fresh and Simple

For the most part, I eat at home - normal food like cereal and sandwiches and chicken and veggies for dinner, but every so often I go out or someone will make me something.

I honestly expected tacos and burritos and salsa and maybe some enchiladas and fajitas. Apparently, those things are more foods of Mexico or some other Central/South American country because Costa Ricans prefer Gallo Pinto - or rice and beans. Sometimes they add extra food to the gallo pinto, like eggs or pork, but for the most part that is the main staple of food here. They add mild, yummy spices, and often include pan fried plantains.

Then there are their tacos, often made with pan fried halloumi cheese and stir fried bell peppers. Still haven't caught the name! They didn't add any spices, but these were also super delicious.

We also have these scrumptious flat cakes, made of potatoes? Probably...also haven't caught the name... They might be Choreadas...

I have also tried this really scrummy chicken and rice dish...arroz con pollo...

So far that is all I have tried, but I am so looking forward to trying the many other dishes here, because...yummy!

More later...

Also, here is another story I have found for my students and am sharing because there is food in it:
