My Cleaning Lady - Mirna

I only pay $4/hr for a cleaning lady...definitely one of the perks of living here in Costa Rica...or so I thought.

Mirna is a tiny 5'1" - maybe 100lbs - Nicaraguan lady in her 40's or 50's. She is very sassy, and and basically never uses cleaning solution when she cleans, which I didn't realize until ants started to show up en-masse on my kitchen counters. Yup.

The best part about Mirna (or as she has clarified on many occasions, Meernah) is that she is not ashamed of asking for more money. She is illiterate, and definitely doesn't speak any English. But she is very good at asking for more money...haha...even though I understand next to nothing that comes out of her mouth. There is always the '...taxi...costosa...dos semanas..." and the "cuándo eres ... viajar... todavia me pagan". Yup. She is robbing me blind and I'm still cleaning up after her!

How am I supposed to get rid of a poor, Nicaraguan cleaning lady? That is just cruel and heartless on so many levels...

I guess it's a good thing it is so beautiful here!
