My Students - Sofie

I have several of the most adorable students in the world! And several of the most ... precocious? Sometimes they are an interesting combination of the two. Haha, being a private academic tutor was not what I had envisioned for my life's work, but I sure could get used to this type of job.

I have one pre-kindergartener named Sofie. She is my youngest and newest student. Mostly she ignores any and all attempts at my teaching, instead choosing to talk, and talk, and talk. She already knows her numbers and letters - meaning she can write them and identify them by sight and in order - so, she is very bright. My job is to teach her how to read.

During our most recent lesson wherein I was giving her the sounds of the letters S, T, and U - Sofie began stretching, instead of writing. Every time I would open my mouth to say something, she would raise her itty-bitty arms up above her head and she would say "look how high my arms are!" Then she would twirl her pencil on the desk, saying "look! my pencil is twirling!" After about 10 minutes of my failed attempts at teaching being thwarted effortlessly by this tiny 4 year old Amazon, we stretched together while she told me stories about her cousins who she likes to play tag with.

She kicked my butt.

I sent her this story afterwards because I know how much she loves cats, dogs, and other animals :D
